Bruce Hammer had it all going: He was ranked one of the top motorcycle racers in the country and was such an accomplished craftsman that he made cabinets for celebrities such as Bob Hope and Sonny and Cher.
But his world suddenly crashed when the front end of his cycle slipped at the American Motorcyclist Association National Championship in Wisconsin in 1982 and he woke up with a broken neck.
